Program description - September 2025

Our one-year Pet Grooming Ontario College Certificate program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding and the hands-on skills necessary to thrive as a professional pet groomer or to establish a successful pet grooming business.

The curriculum covers various topics, including safely handling and restraining various animals, proper grooming techniques for canines and felines to enhance their health, specialized grooming cuts, and fundamental animal care procedures. Additionally, the program imparts the essential business acumen required to initiate a pet grooming venture.

A distinctive feature of the program is the Conestoga Grooming Clinic. It offers an unparalleled opportunity for students to apply their grooming skills in a realistic setting, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

While the program is open to all, we highly recommend prior experience with animals, either through pet ownership or experience in the animal industry, to enrich your learning experience. Moreover, upon completing the Pet Grooming Certificate, pathways exist to help students interested in broadening their expertise in the field. You can also pursue further education to obtain the Veterinary Assistant Certificate.

This exciting program is designed to immerse students in the world of pet grooming, enabling them to emerge as competent professionals ready to make a difference in the industry immediately upon graduation.
