Program outcomes

  1. Identify the basic health, housing, and maintenance requirements to provide appropriate care for cats and dogs.
  2. Restrain and manage cats and dogs in grooming environments using accepted restraint techniques to encourage the safety of staff and animals.
  3. Use professional communication and interpersonal skills to counsel clients in appropriate pet care, promote and maintain client relationships, and effectively contribute as a member of an animal care team.
  4. Apply small business principles including customer service practices, marketing activities, and bookkeeping procedures to establish or operate a pet grooming service
  5. Bathe and brush cats and dogs using techniques that promote the health and wellbeing of the animal
  6. Perform breed standard cuts using a variety of clipping and scissoring techniques that promote the wellbeing of the animal and meet client expectations and accepted standards of practice.
  7. Maintain an orderly and sanitary grooming environment using appropriate disinfecting agents and following recognized biohazard disposal protocols that promote the health and safety of staff and animals.
