Program description - September 2024

Are you interested in teaching English in various settings in Canada or globally? In the Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Ontario Graduate Certificate program, you will learn theory of language acquisition and the foundations for teaching the English language through engaging applied in-class experiences. In addition to classes, you will complete 50 hours of field placement where you will observe and teach an ESL class under the guidance of a certified English language instructor. Upon completion of Part 1 of our program, you can choose to apply for the TESL Canada (Standard I) certificate. As a graduate from part 1 and part 2 of the program, you are able to apply for the TESL Canada (Standard II) and TESL Ontario certification. To support you in completing this program, courses are offered in full-time and part-time delivery options.
