Program description - January 2027

Our one-year Renewable Energy Techniques certificate program will give you the skills and knowledge to effectively create, install and maintain functional renewable energy systems.

The program is centered around four key themes:

  • Renewable Power Generation – In-depth study of solar (PV and thermal), wind, hydro and biofuel energy systems.
  • Energy Storage and Management – Emphasizing battery technologies, energy modeling, grid integration and system optimization.
  • Sustainable Building Practices – Focus on green construction, building codes, LEED and other sustainability certifications.
  • Electrical Systems and Safety – Emphasis on safe installation practices, electrical fundamentals, grounding and system diagnostics.
You will be introduced to the different sectors of the renewable energy field. Both theoretical and practical applications in solar power, wind, solar thermal technologies, battery storage and other forms of alternative energies will be explored.

As a Renewable Energy Techniques student, you will gain hands-on experience and technical proficiency in PV and wind system design, sizing, and installation; site assessment for solar and wind projects; battery storage systems (lead-acid, lithium-ion); energy modeling software and consumption tracking, and other related topics.
