Description: This course prepares students to conduct an effective job search. Students will explore labour market trends to uncover the hidden job market. Students will learn to identify their transferable skills and market them effectively. They will create targeted resumes and cover letters aimed at employers in their field. Students will learn strategies to communicate their skills effectively in an interview. They will explore the skills, attitudes and expectations needed to successfully transition into the workplace. Throughout the duration of this course, a personalized job search plan will be created to support their future career goals.

Fundamentals of Information Technology Infrastructure Library

Description: ITIL is a standard used in all aspects of Information Technology (IT) and as such, students will explore the fundamentals of how ITIL relates to the IT industry. Students will consider best practices within the areas of communication, project planning, and customer service. Class participation is an important part of active learning, and this course will include working individually and in groups using case scenarios, allowing participants to experience real-world conditions.

Network Fundamentals

Description: Identifying and troubleshooting basic network issues is an essential skill required by anyone working in an IT department. Students will cover many topics including: internetworking fundamentals, Ethernet LANs and switches, IP addressing, subnetting and network security. The student will be provided with the opportunity to configure and troubleshoot Cisco switches and routers including static and dynamic routing configurations. In addition, various WAN technologies will be identified and configured.

Integrated Project I

Students will be required to work as a member of a team to complete a large project, demonstrating skills and knowledge gained from previous courses. Linux Server

Topics in this course will include working with the shell and text files as well as working with processes, jobs, and storage devices. Students will also explore security, managing log files and printers, and writing scripts.
