Program description - September 2025

Our one-year Mental Health and Substance Use graduate certificate program will provide you with the skills and knowledge that are needed to support people living with mental health and substance use concerns.

Given the broad influence that mental health and addiction can have on individuals, families, and communities, this program aims to provide you with a wide range of evidence-based skills to support people at the individual and the group/system levels.

You will learn in groups and individually as you tackle applied projects designed to support the community in which you are learning. You will study crucial, foundational information and then have the chance to apply your learning as you work with various professionals on topics such as community collaboration, program development, trauma-informed care, and advocacy.

As you move toward graduation, you can utilize this learning in work settings ranging from front-line support to program and community development. As a graduate of this program, you will also feel more prepared for clinical graduate degrees.
