This course explores the selection and maintenance of CAD infrastructure and best practices for the successful selection and implementation of Product Data Management (PDM), Product Life Management (PLM) and CAD software in an engineering design organization. Strategies for analyzing organizational requirements and software options will be discussed, along with project planning and change management practices to facilitate system adoption. Integrated Project – Design and Drafting Management

In this course, students will complete a semester-long capstone project to bring together the skills and knowledge gained through the program to complete a simulated comprehensive Product Data Management (PDM) and CAD system selection and implementation, and to create a professional portfolio of CAD products. Students will work in groups to analyze organizational needs, select an appropriate system, and develop a plan to implement the system. They will also work independently to produce a personal portfolio.
