Program description - May 2026

Community Pharmacy Assistants are important members of the intraprofessional health care team, working with Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists, and engaging directly with patients. Pharmacy Assistants work in community pharmacies, both chain and independent, long-term care, and specialized compounding pharmacies. If you are interested in health care, with a desire to assist patients who require a range of pharmacy services, then the Community Pharmacy Assistant program may be a perfect fit for you. This one-year Ontario College Certificate is a fully-integrated program including medical conditions and medications, professional practice, and inventory management. Through a combination of theory, practical laboratories and a work experience placement, graduates are prepared to practice as Community Pharmacy Assistants as they receive, order and manage inventory, assist with compounding and dispensing, and provide general assistance with the delivery of pharmacy services.
