Students will learn best practices for cleaning residential buildings to promote health and maintain a professional standard in an apartment building. Students will learn to develop schedules for cleaning routines to be conducted by building maintenance teams. Description: This course introduces students to occupational health and safety legislated requirements for the workplace. Students will learn the main components of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the rights and responsibilities of workplace parties and application of three fundamental rights of workers. Students will explore issues associated with workplace violence, harassment, accident response, and the legal requirements for WHMIS. Students will learn how to identify hazards and assess the risk. Students will apply their knowledge of health and safety legislation to a workplace to assess compliance. Students will be introduced to WSIB and understand importance of reporting injuries.

Description: This course provides students with the knowledge and skills required to contract building maintenance and maintain records in a rental office.Students will learn best practices for locating qualified professional contractors. Students will learn best practices for establishing contracts, maintaining contractor relations, and monitoring work completion.Students will learn file management practices for efficient control and updating of rental agreements, tenant records, and maintenance contracts. Students will learn basic bookkeeping practices required for tracking financial activities involved in apartment building leasing and maintenance.
