Program outcomes
- Complete bookkeeping functions within the accounting cycle using an appropriate accounting framework including accounts receivables, payable, inventory, and payroll processing using relevant software and operating systems
- Use appropriate technologies, including accounting and tax software, to create and produce reports for business analysis, identification of trends and decision-making
- Use relevant Canadian legislation and regulations to complete payroll tasks, prepare payroll remittances, T4's and other required filings to ensure compliance
- Apply knowledge of the Canadian income tax system for the accurate preparation of basic personal tax returns
- Apply knowledge of GST/HST to business transactions and preparation of GST/HST returns
- Maintain manual and electronic recordkeeping controls to ensure safekeeping and maintenance of financial records
- Communicate professionally with vendors, clients and other stakeholders to foster successful business relationships.
- Complete all work in accordance with ethical business practices that foster corporate responsibility within the context of the Canadian business environment and the Sustainable Development Goals.
