Program description

This one-year, three-term Therapeutic Recreation Graduate Certificate program teaches students how to help individuals achieve optimal health and quality of life through recreation and leisure. If you enjoy working with people and helping them set and achieve personal goals, this program is a great fit for you. You will learn how to assess the strengths, needs, and leisure interests of clients to plan, design, and implement interventions that support an individual's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.

The program includes a combination of classroom, online, and simulation learning, plus a culminating field placement experience that transitions students into real work practice. As a graduate of the Therapeutic Recreation Graduate Certificate program, you will be well-positioned to find employment in a variety of settings, such as schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centres, nursing homes, retirement homes, and community agencies. You will be eligible to attain a Therapeutic Recreation Ontario Registration designation.
