Program description

As companies continue to increase their reliance on information technology (IT) services, there is a recognized need for leaders in information systems and technology to help organizations embrace the rapid innovation and increasing complexity of software and infrastructure. This honours degree program in digital technology solutions is designed to meet that need for graduates to help design, develop, implement, and monitor IT solutions that effectively and continuously meet business requirements. In addition to developing the ability to apply IT competencies to design and produce creative IT solutions based on input from business analysis, this program provides you with options to specialize in either software or systems infrastructure solutions, allowing you to personalize your learning to your own interests. Your software or systems infrastructure specialization will allow you to bring a heightened skillset to your potential employer, providing higher value and enabling you to potentially start your career beyond entry-level positions. If you are looking to become a leader in the Information Technology industry through software or systems design and development and possess skills in interpersonal relationships, critical thinking, creative problem solving, and self-motivation, this program has been developed for you. Twelve months of paid co-op opportunities have been strategically intertwined with academic terms to enhance job readiness. Academic terms will be delivered using a project-based learning environment, complemented with bring-your-own-device (BYOD) classroom technology at Conestoga's recently renovated Waterloo campus. All academic terms will be facilitated by faculty who possess current industry knowledge to enhance student readiness and skills upon graduation.

Majors

At the end of year 2, students have the option of selecting a major in Development or Infrastructure.
