The Office of Indigenous Initiatives’ mandate is to implement the College and Institutes Canada (CICan) Indigenous Education Protocols and act upon the recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action and Conestoga’s Indigenous Success Strategy once complete.
We oversee Conestoga’s Indigenization strategies for academic and student services, Indigenous Services, and Indigenous student success programming. Our office leads partnerships with Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers, as well as Indigenous communities, organizations, and the Indigenous Education Council.
We aim to integrate Indigenous ways of knowing into all facets of college life by being a central hub for Indigenous strategic development, providing guidance and support through professional development, workshops, and opportunities to participate in Indigenous-led committees.
