Structural Design - Corrugated

Description:

This course will cover the physical properties and attributes of corrugated packaging as well as the different manufacturing processes involved in the manufacture of a corrugated container. Load unitizing and load stabilization methods will be thoroughly discussed. Through the application of this knowledge in computer aided software, students will be able to develop and create effective packaging systems for relevant products.

The Packaging Manufacturing Industry, Product Protection and Costing
IENG8002

Description:

In this course students will learn about the sectors that make up the packaging manufacturing industry, including manufacturing methods used and their importance in industry. This course will also cover effective and accurate methods used in industry to calculate manufacturing costs of packaging materials. Factors that contribute to the production cost, such as labour and raw materials, will be discussed. An in-depth analysis of hazards to which packaging systems are exposed will be conducted. Students will apply their knowledge of these hazards to the development of innovative packaging that effectively protects the product for which it is designed, while at the same time considering sustainability and the environment.

Packaging Testing Technology

Packaging Regulations, Specifications and Supply Chain
IENG8022

Description:

The Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act and the Food and Drug Act will be studied. Students will develop the skills required to develop packaging specifications that meet current regulations, as part of the product development process. The course will describe the flow of packaging materials, from manufacturing to the final customer, providing an understanding of the entire supply chain. Students will investigate the impact to the environment and sustainability using different tools.

Description:

This course will cover in detail the process followed in industry to develop new packaging materials and systems, from concept to market. Introduction to Project Management

Description:

This course provides the tools to manage and monitor the progress of complex projects across cross-functional teams of employees in multiple departments. This managerial skill will help establish priorities and effectively manage projects to drive business results.
