Business Research and Data Analysis

Description:

This course explores basic statistical and research methods and their application to data analysis. Students will develop skills in reading and understanding research literature, and will develop expertise in evaluating the validity and reliability of research data. Students will acquire hands-on experience creating a research project design in small teams, collecting data, analyzing the data using Microsoft Excel and reporting their findings and conclusions.

Description: This course is based on end-user computer skills for global business managers. The course focuses on students achieving a recommended level of information and communication technologies (ICT) competence to enable effective employability. Students will learn to apply Word processing skills to create properly formatted documents including collaboration tools for working in a globally distributed team. Data analysis and reporting tools in Excel will be utilized to create executive summaries of data used to solve business problems. Global Supply Chain Management

The goal of this course is to familiarize students with the discipline of supply chain management (SCM), which enables firms to better coordinate inbound and outbound information and material flow. In addition, supply chain management impacts customer service activities relevant to logistics, operations and marketing processes. Students will consider organizations from a global perspective. The impact of being a global entity on individual behaviour, team processes, and organizational processes will be examined. In today's interconnected world, organizations require leaders who possess a deep understanding of the constantly evolving nature of work and who think beyond their immediate sphere of influence. Leaders must recognize their role in the global community and be mindful of the impact their actions have on the world. With the increasing complexity and interdependence of global markets, organizations must also be aware of how global dynamics can affect their operations. The role of the leader will be a recurring theme. The course will integrate casework and will require the students to integrate material and provide support for their decisions.

Introduction to Project Management

Description: This course provides the practical knowledge to prepare for starting and completing a project successfully. It will cover the components and tasks related to complex projects that often involve multiple functional teams and departments. You will explore how the knowledge areas of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) are applied during each phase of a project's life cycle as well as the processes related to successful project management. An overview of status reporting and the use of MS Project will be covered. This knowledge will help establish priorities and effectively manage your projects. It will be of particular interest to those students who have a long-term goal of attaining the Project Management Professional (PMP)® designation certified by the Project Management Institute.

Sustainable Management

Description: This course is designed to introduce students to the historical timeline of the Sustainable Development. Students learn communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills required to utilize green and sustainability language, to be agents of change in not-for-profit, non-governmental organizations, business entrepreneurs, industry, and government. Students analyze change management issues facing organizations transitioning to sustainable business practices. Students learn to communicate and advocate personal and corporate advantages of reducing one's ecological footprint in all sectors while also considering the protocols, financial implications, and international constraints or differences that could impact a corporate sustainability strategy.

Program outcomes

  1.
