Description: All managers need financial management skills to make decisions and manage projects within an organization. This introductory course for non-accounting students covers aspects of both financial accounting and management accounting. Students will be able to apply concepts of finance and financial management for organizations operating in a variety of environments. Students will develop an appreciation for the techniques used to control financial risk in management situations. Students will be able to apply concepts of financial accounting to both personal and business situations, including the preparation and use of basic financial statements. Management accounting topics will allow the students to understand cost behaviour and its use in decision-making, evaluate capital investments, and prepare operating budgets.

Capstone Financial Technology

Description: This capstone project course, a culmination of the program, will challenge students to apply the theory and skills gained throughout the program to successfully complete a project related to financial technology securities. Small groups of students, working in teams will design, document and manufacture a customer’s security product. This semester-long project will demonstrate the students’ understanding of security, applications and market trends. Through meetings with student groups, faculty will support the development of the project plan, implementation and metrics.

Analysis for Financial Technology
