Distance Learning Library Services

Who is Eligible for Distance Learning Services?

Distance Learning library services are offered to students registered in Conestoga College Online Delivery course(s). OntarioLearn students must be registered directly with Conestoga College for service eligibility. OntarioLearn students registered at other colleges should contact their respective institution’s library for service information.

What Options are Available to Distance Learning Students?

  1. Access to the Library's large collection of online resources. Your PIN for online access is the last 4 digits of your student/staff number.
  2. Research and reference assistance is available via phone, email and askON.
  3. Digital scanning of LRC print material that is unavailable via our online resources and meets Fair Dealing guidelines (e.g., one book chapter). Complete the Distance Learning Loan online form if scanning is required. Documents will be sent to the Conestoga email address provided within 2 - 4 business days as a .pdf attachment.
  4. Borrowing Books

    Distance learning students must live within the province of Ontario and at least 50 kilometers away from a Conestoga College Campus in order to be eligible to borrow books from our General Collection via our courier service. Students living less than 50 kilometers from a Conestoga College campus may arrange to pick up the items at the closest campus. Those residing within the Region of Waterloo are expected to borrow items in person at our Doon or Cambridge Campus Library locations.

    A Distance Learning Loan online form must be completed for all requests.

    • Available Conestoga Library circulating books with a 14-day loan period may be checked out and delivered. (Note: Short-term loan (1 to 7 days), non-circulating and print reserve items are not eligible for this service.)
    • A home address and phone number are required for delivery. (Note: Our courier will not deliver to a post-office box.)
    • Allow approximately 3-5 business days for processing and shipping.
    • The Library covers delivery and return costs.

    Returning Books

    • Material must be in receipt of the Library by the due date indicated on the slip provided or fines will be incurred.
    • Clients are responsible for the return of borrowed items using the return mailing label. Return instructions will be included with shipment.

    Item Renewal

    • Maximum of one renewal per item allowed if a hold has not been placed by another client
    • Renewals can only be done through contacting library staff by phone or email.
